The app says quiet water

That is usually correct rather than broken. Big ships pass in bursts; a quiet hour is a real answer. The tide, wind and sky are always there, so check those to confirm the app is live. The dot next to the place name turns amber when data is getting old and stays amber while the ship feed is paused.

A widget is blank, or shows old times

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets are refreshed by iOS on its own schedule, not on demand, so a few minutes of lag is normal. Open the app once to force a refresh. If a widget stays blank, remove it and add it again — that rebuilds it from scratch. Low Power Mode stops background refresh entirely.

Bells are not ringing

Bells are part of Pro. With Pro, check that notifications are allowed for Ship O'Clock in iOS Settings, that Bells are on for the pin in the app, and that the current time is not inside your quiet hours. A daily limit you set can also hold a Bell back; raising it is the fastest way to test that the path works.

The pass time was off

A pass time is worked out from a ship's broadcast position, speed and heading, and ships slow down, speed up and turn. Times firm up as a ship gets closer. If a time was badly wrong, tell us which ship, which pin and roughly when, in the box below.

Do I need an account?

No. Pins, the map, the times, Bells and the widgets all work without one. A Ship O'Clock account is its own account and is not shared with any other app.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, Settings → Account → Delete account. It removes the account and everything attached to it immediately. See the privacy policy. Deleting the account does not cancel an Apple subscription — do that in your Apple ID settings.

Where the numbers come from

Ship positions from the public signal ships broadcast, tides and weather from public agencies, ferry sailings from the ferry operators. Pass times are computed from those. They are a forecast, not a measurement — see the terms.

What broke, what is missing, what you would actually use. No account needed, and you do not have to leave an address — though without one we cannot write back.

Pro adds Bells: a short toot on your phone before a ship passes the pins you choose, and a second toot five minutes out. It is an auto-renewing monthly subscription, sold only in the iOS app through the App Store.
